The conference will be held at the University of Pretoria’s Future Africa campus. The campus provides a dynamic living, learning and research environment where a community of scholars and other societal role players engage to advance excellence in scholarship, dialogue and impact.

THE UNIVERSITY OF PRETORIA

Founded in 1908, the University of Pretoria (UP) stands among Africa’s premier educational institutions. Spanning seven campuses, its primary location in Hatfield, the scenic diplomatic hub of South Africa’s capital city, serves as the largest campus. As the largest residential university in the country, UP is dedicated to educating a vibrant community of over 50,000 students. This dynamic environment brings together individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures, reflecting the richness of both South African and global societies.

Welcome to Pretoria

Pretoria, recognised as one of South Africa’s three capital cities, earned the moniker “Jacaranda City” due to the numerous Jacaranda trees gracing its streets, painting the landscape mauve during spring. Functioning as the headquarters for the Executive Branch of government, it also plays host to all foreign embassies to South Africa. An intriguing tidbit about Pretoria’s primary thoroughfare: once named Church Street (now divided into Stanza Bopape, Helen Joseph, WF Nkomo, and Elias Motswaledi), it stands as the longest urban street in South Africa and ranks among the world’s lengthiest straight streets.
